چکیده
Abstract Model-independent masses of substellar companions are critical tools to validate models planet and brown dwarf cooling, test their input physics, determine the formation evolution these objects. In this work, we measure dynamical mass orbit young companion HD 984 B. We obtained new high-contrast imaging system with Keck/NIRC2 that expands baseline relative astrometry from 3 8 yr. also present radial velocities host star Habitable-Zone Planet Finder spectrograph at Hobby-Eberly Telescope. Furthermore, exhibits a significant proper motion difference between Hipparcos Gaia EDR3. Our joint fit astrometry, motions, yields 61 ± 4 M Jup for B, placing firmly in regime. The reveals higher eccentricity ( e = 0.76 0.05) compared previous fits. Given broad age constraint 984, is consistent predictions evolutionary models. B’s places it among small but growing list giant direct measurements.

Dynamical Mass of the Substellar Benchmark Binary HD 130948 BC
We present Keck adaptive optics imaging of the L4+L4 binary HD 130948BC along with archival HST and Gemini-North observations, which together span ≈70% of the binary’s orbital period. From the relative orbit, we determine a total dynamical mass of 0.109±0.002 M⊙ (114±2 MJup). The flux ratio of HD 130948BC is near unity, so both components are unambiguously substellar for any plausible mass rati...
متن کاملHd 203030b: an Unusually Cool Young Substellar Companion near the L/t Transition
We present the discovery of a brown dwarf companion to the star HD 203030: a G8 V Solar analog with an estimated age between 130 and 400 Myr old G8 V. Separated by 11B9 (487 AU in projection) from its host star, HD 203030B has an estimatedmass of 0:023þ0:008 "0:011 M#. TheK-band spectral type of L7:5 $ 0:5 places HD 203030B near the critical L/T transition in brown dwarfs, which is characterize...
متن کاملLuminosity Functions of Young Clusters: Modeling the Substellar Mass Regime
We predict near-infrared luminosity functions of young (5 Myr to 1 Gyr) star clusters by combining evolutionary models of very low-mass (1 MJ to 0.15 M ) dwarfs with empirical bolometric corrections. We identify several characteristic features in our results. These can be attributed to three causes: (1) deuterium burning in the most massive substellar objects; (2) methane absorption in bodies w...
متن کاملA High-Eccentricity Low-Mass Companion to HD 89744.
HD 89744 is an F7 V star with a mass of 1.4 M middle dot in circle, an effective temperature of 6166 K, an age of 2.0 Gyr, and metallicity &sqbl0;Fe&solm0;H&sqbr0;=0.18. The radial velocity of the star has been monitored with the Advanced Fiber-Optic Echelle spectrograph at the Whipple Observatory since 1996, and evidence has been found for a low-mass companion. The data were complemented by ad...
متن کاملDiscovery of a Wide Substellar Companion to a Nearby Low-Mass Star
We report the discovery of a wide (135± 25 AU), unusually blue L5 companion 2MASS J17114559+4028578 to the nearby M4.5 dwarf G 203-50 as a result of a targeted search for common proper motion pairs in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and the Two Micron All Sky Survey. Adaptive Optics imaging with Subaru indicates that neither component is a nearly equal mass binary with separation > 0.18, and place...
